Got 2 clownfish 7 days ago, they have been eating fine and acting normal. Today I noticed the underside of the larger clownfish to have a brownish color - is this normal or something I need to worry about and treat?

The gramma has been going after the clown with its mouth open, no nipping seen so far but I know it was like that with my blenny, and she's fine with him now.

Appreciate any thoughts/advice, thank you!

I dont know if it the same for you but my male when it became a female after my female jumped through my net!! But basically it darkened a lot in that process so if they are a new pair it could be the same 🤷‍♂️ here is my clown before and after

Very interesting. Yes, they are a new pair. Made sure I got them different sizes in hopes it would make the determination easier.

Hopefully that is it, and not a sickness. Thank you.

These may be mocha clowns which would have this coloration. Larger is likely female and would be a little more aggressive

I see nothing abnormal. And - lets pretend there is something internal - there is nothing one could do about it in any case

I bought the larger one as a Misbar Oscellaris, and the smaller one as type of snowflake. But I have no clue. I'm good as long as they are healthy 🙂

Thank you, just a little over cautious 🙂. if they happen to have something that could spread, I'd like to try and keep it from spreading.

This is not an internal issue which would have tell tale signs (loss of weight, pinched head and belly as examples)
