clown driving my bubble tip crazy

I recently purchased a green bubble tip. My clowns love it. I think they love it a little too much. It is pretty small and the clowns bother it so much, it stays closed most of the time. My LFS told me to cover it with a clear plastic container with holes in until it gets a little bigger. Good advice???? Will it be ok inside a covered container?
