Clownfish aggression and more aggressive fish

I had two ocellaris clownfish and the little butts would nip me, they were too small to break the skin, but I read that if they have more aggressive fish and they don't feel like the alpha in the aquarium they will leave things be. Is this true?

Clowns will be clowns. As with all fish and people , they can be unpredictable.

Dont know how true that is about other aggressive fish. I have a purple tang (6 footer, stand down tang police)
and every time I put my hand in that tank it doesnt matter where I have my hand that blacker ice clown who is the female comes rolling up and starts chasing my hand, has nipped only once. I have a few other semi aggressive fish in there. When I dont have my hand in the tank 99% of the time the clown pair is hanging out by the overflow.

Clowns are clowns. Some are worse than others (Maroons).

I have peaceful ones, and I attribute that to them being ora captive bred.
