Hi,

So I bought two clowns from someone, been a pair in his tank for 8 years. They've been in my tank for about 7 or 8 weeks now.

They gone on great, they have been recently picking a an area of rock together and have been hanging around together.

All of a sudden one clown has been hiding away in the corner, I then realized the other (much bigger female) is chasing and fighting him when he comes out.

Any advice on why this has suddenly started happening? Will they get over this or will she persist until he dies?

She is still hanging around the area they were cleaning together.

Update - I've had to put him in the sump, second the light went off she was bashing him so badly I don't think he'd survive the night.

Will be ok in my sump with the skimmer

Moving fish can be very stressful. I have had the worst outcomes with the largest most dominant fish and an established female clownfish definitely qualifies. I would put the female in qt because she is the one undergoing the most stress.

Yes a clownfish will do fine in a sump as long as they are contained and isolated from equipment. Clownfish are definitely prone to jump.

If you can and not cause too much stress get a clear acclimation box and put her in it and leave him out and let him get comfortable. My female is a b**** too. She gets ***** at him a lot too. What are you feeding and how often? She might be super hungry and then take it out on him

Yeah that… my female launches herself out of the tank after my hand all the time!

I feed marine mix twice a day, if anything I feed more than enough but I like it that way. I have two clowns and one sailfin tang.

I don't have a breeder box so I have just ordered one. Poor bugger wasn't fighting back he was just getting beat
