It may not be the cause of all deaths but I have had fish die quickly of velvet without much notice. I think you also need to change other tactics since you have lost so many. I would let your tank go fallow and use a 10 gallon quarantine tank with PVC pipes for the fish to hide in and an airstone. Get a small amount of biomedia and instant bacteria. Establish a medicine cabinet of Ruby Reef Rally Pro, Prazipro and Copper Power. Follow Jay's quarantine protocol (see below). Before you put the fish in your QT during acclimation, I would do a dip using the Rally Pro or Hydroplex. Make sure you are using test kits that are not API. I recommend Hanna or Salifert.
