Clowns and Nems

When started adding some stuff to my tank I added a pair of regular ocellaris clowns and what I was told was a Mexican Pink Tip Nem...... Dont know if that's right or what the technical name is. They also said the clowns would take to it but 2 months later they haven't even looked at him lol.

didnt know if anyone knew what this guy is and if the clowns would even take to it he has moved a few times and finally settled I do believe as he's been in the same spot for a week now and would love to see em interact.

There are many posts on this. You aren’t the only one. Some reefers have reported success playing a video of a clown hosting next to the tank. Sort of like a suggestion. I lucked out with my peppermint anemone. Good luck.

It took a year before my CC candy corn bubble tip anemone began hosting my pair of ocellaris clowns. Then it was magic.

Be patient. I do not believe it is something you can force. Good luck.

That is a Condylactis gigantea. It is and Atlantic anemone species, so it does not naturally host clowns because there is no clown fish in the Atlantic Ocean. Sometime desperate clownfish will attempt to go into this anemone. This species doesn't have very strong sting, so clown fish won't get hurt from this.
The only natural host of A. ocellaris are H. magnifica, S. gigantea or S. mertensii. All three are rather difficult anemones to keep. Other species are hit and miss as hosts for Ocellaris clowns.

Wherever your got that anemone and clownfish from, I’d stop going to them . They got no clue what they are selling or talking about.

I've seen all kinds of Anemones host clown fish. In fact, I currently have a clown fish that is hosted by Hammer corals.

If you have natural hosts, even CB clowns will go into this anemone very quickly, minutes. If there are no natural host, some clowns are more likely use alternate non-natural hosts, while other do not. It will be a crab shoot. The affinity of clowns to their natural hosts also quite a bit more so than to non-natural hosts. This is observation from my own experiences.
