ok so i tucked away all cables. i noticed about a 1/4 bow on the tank so i made a removable brace to support the center, now the tank is perfect and since my original lid was a 1 piece lid made of 1/8 acrylic which now didn't fit plus is was sagging, i made a 2 piece lid (not fully done) waiting for my acrylic hinges to come in today so i can put my feeding doors on. i also relocated the opening for the mangrove plants i want to put in to the left side thus the random oval cover.

update i put in a skimmer a uv sterilizer and i have a xr30 that i order to upgrade from the xr15 for better lighting. Added a 2 firefish and some mangroves.

So i got my XR30 and installed it, i then went this weekend and decided to get some new member to the tank. i picked up 3 sexy shrimp 1 blood shrimp and a blue spot jaw fish that i just had to have. Well at the LFS they had the jaw fish locked in a jar and i asked why he was in the jar and if he was reef safe and was told that he was a jumper but he was reef safe to which i responded well no big deal to me as i have lids, so i purchased him. what the guy at the LFS neglected to tell me was that this jerk digs and i mean digs lol he basically cleared out under one of my rocks, the next thing he neglected to mention was that Sexy shrimp were part of his menu items. I witnessed this 1st hand i was watching 1 of the sexy shrimp do his little dance peacefully in a corner of the Aquarium then to my horror BAM like a lighting bolt he got eaten by the jerk and with the same lighting speed right back to recently dug cave. Well any ways i have 2 sexy shrimp left as of last night so i created a sexy shrimp safe haven, My issue is trying to catch them to put them in the safe haven.

Time for an update
i sold this system last week and upgraded to a bigger system i didn't have enough time to build one so i just bought a waterbox 150.4. So far i have made my custom lids. 3d printed a m2 pump fitting and made a shelf to hold my parameter liquids. Im still waiting on my new reef mat 1200 to come in. Ive partnered up with a local fish store/waterbox dealer and we have been doing modification to the stand doors so i will be doing my doors possibly this weekend and i have still have some decorative accents i want to do the stand. the last photo is of a clients tank just so you can get an idea of the door modifications. Also made a new bigger vegi feeder since i now have 4 tangs and made a new hanging mangrove plant holder.

Time for an update

Thanks! my only issues with lids is that since i make them out of acrylic they slightly warp hopefully after i get my CNC i will make them out of polycabonate

came across your thread while looking into building my own tank. Without being in the plastic business do you think this is economical? For something like your build what would be your estimate on materials for a consumer if you don’t mind me asking.

Thank you! it was economical for me since i use the remaining acrylics to make other items i sold so basically mine came out free, for the display tank i used 1/2 inch acrylic which i bought 2 sheets at $281 each 1 black 1 clear. Sump was made using a mix of 3/8 and 1/4 acrylics 2 sheets 3/8 $181 each 1 black 1 clear and 1 clear 1 black 1/4 at $120.00 each on wood for the stand i spent roughly about $180.00 so in materials i want to say i spent a rough estimate of about $1400 give or take.

well for an update on my waterbox 150.4 i still havent made my doors or panels since i have been swamped with work. i did install a redsea doser i made my own dosing container for it. i also upgraded my a few thing in the sump area. installed my UV sterilizer with the s2 pump i had from my 40g build. i put in a new reefmat 1200 and upgraded my skimmer to a better one. i have gotten some new inhabitants also and after purchasing the redsea doser hose kit i figured id try and make my own hose holder and probe holder too.

Update time: i got a few new inhabitants. i added a neptune sump light with a bracket i made. i finally got my 2nd xr30 light and bracket, which i had to make new lids to accomodate for.

update pipe fish didnt make it. i purchased my apex pro and made a probe holder for it and the best news is that finally after 8 month 1 of my clowns started to host in a nem.

I got some new corals a fungia plate coral, a holy grail and some grand master krak zoas. i have been battling it out with my diamond goby all weekend up until yesterday since he decided to turn my fungia plate into his new home and kept burying her so i had to keep moving her and have finally been victorious, i made a stand for it that he couldnt get under to make it his home, so far the battle is won!
