Alright I think this will be good enough. This is going to be a sps tank, so the main goal is to have enough flat surface area to mount frags on. I kept the structures all at the halfway mark on the tank to give more room for coral growth up towards the light.

This carib sea rock is great, lots of holes for fish to camp out in and even swim threw.

I may mount a small magnet rock on the back middle to hold frags, and give a little more overall depth to the structure. I usually like my rock scape to be taller on one side but it's time to switch things up and go a little more subtle.

The last picture is extra rock. I'll just break it up and mount cyphastreas and leptoseris' to them on the sand bed in some places most likely.

I like what you’ve done there. I have a bunch of the liferock, some shapes and some regular, and I couldn’t make anything with it in my tank footprint that I liked. Scrapped all of it and went with something else. You did much better with it than I did for sure. I don’t think you need anything mounted on the back glass unless you really want something there. Less is more. I hope I’m following my own advice. My scape is getting wet tonight or tomorrow morning and even after paring it down I think it still might be too much for the space.

Thanks, i had to cut some rocks to make them smaller with a diamond wheel on my grinder, but other than that it came out good enough. In the end of the day it all gets covered in coral so I wouldnt sweat on ur scape too much. Just make sure you like it before proceeding to glue anything down onto it. Always a fun time building new tanks and seeing them come alive. Share a picture when ur happy with it.

Awesome build so far!

It caught my eye because I just started a C Vue 40 as well. Then to make things even crazier I saw that you’re in RP! I grew up there and now live in Sebastopol.

I’ll definitely be following along! I’m hoping to get a build thread started for my tank soon.

Haha small world! Yeah I bought this tank off a SF firefighter who lives in Petaluma. He posted it on CL still in the box brand new for 200 bucks and I jumpedall over the deal.

I grew up In sonoma but I went to Rancho for 5 months and graduated there in 2009.

I notice ur profile says you are 25, so if you went to Rancho too then that means you prob went to school with my sister in law.

Throw up a build thread, once our tanks are established we can swap some frags.

Love the lagoon tank size. I see you went with the two little fishes stax. I almost pulled the trigger on those too. Looking good. I'll be sure to follow ur journey if u get that thread up.

Looks great, I really like what you did with the separations between the islands. They look connected but separate if that makes sense. Great job.
Thanks, yes that makes sense haha. I'm not a fan of the straight rock walls. Turns into a detritus trap and less swimming space for the fish.

More mail.

Mag float for the glass.
Coral feeder to blow detritus out my rocks before water changes. Not so much for coral feeding.

Okay, its been 48 hours since dr Tim's one and only. I have proceeded to put my filter floss back in, and skimmer back on.

I think it's safe to say that the skimmer is in its break in period [emoji849]
