For the second time this week, Excel is shutting down power as a preventive measure to fight fire danager.

Some places had power shut off for over 24hrs on Wednesday. Power company is saying it could be the same today.

We all know it could happen... a power outage.

Ive got air stones and a generator. Those dont help if I'm not home, atleast we know the power will be out allowing us to make plans.

Would you be prepared for this?

I am prepared. I have a battery backup that will run all my systems for a few hours. That gives me enough time to hook up a generator that can then runs my tank ideally as long as it’s needed.

They got this idea from California no doubt. When they started doing that here, I first bought a generator. They work great. I recommend propane powered because you don’t have to clean them out and you can buy larger cylinders to run for about 24 hours at a time. I can run the fish tank as normal, two refrigerators and charging for phones/laptops.

The annoyance is running the power lines to everything, particularly in foul weather. So we ended up getting solar with Powerwall backup. So now we can run the whole house for about 24 hours in total darkness. If the sun comes out to recharge the batteries, we can run off grid indefinitely.
