Rare fish are cool... but sometimes I think we see a big price tag and assume they are better then the common, cheap fish we see all the time. So to fight the elitists let’s show off our common fish!

Rule is you have to be able to get the fish at a LFS more often then not and has to be less then the average price for a saltwater fish. Finally you have to justify why it is just as good or better then a "rare" fish without the arguments or availability and/or price.

So for $20 I will begin with the common firefish. Easy and in my opinion prettier then all helfriki and purple thanks to its vibrant red and orange colors.

Sticking with Gobidae
I think this court jester goby is beautiful and at $30 bucks is great. Also supposedly is one of the few critters that helps against cyano.

Finally the most common leopard wrasse but in my opinion possibly the cutest. Macropharyngodon bipartitus!

It’s hard to beat the common clownfish. They’re the most well known saltwater fish and in my opinion one of the prettiest. Plus watching them try to find things to host them is absolutely adorable.

Ya got that right. They're so popular it borders on cliché, but I don't care. They're one of my favorites as well. Especially the Maroon.

Agreed. I just regret getting a fancy breed as I now think a common, regular occelaris is the prettiest.

I have a maroon. It is pretty. Can’t say anything else nice about it though.
