Your response didn't seem aggressive to me. :) I completly agree with what you said, Convict tangs are rarely aggressive. They are usually the ones being beat up.
I got one that would prove you wrong lol. It bullied a larger clown tang to the point the clown would not leave the rockwork. The convict is doing life in my 300g sump.

I had one successfully after my 5th try. The first 4 didn't make it through qurantine. It became super aggressive and ended up killing my copperband butterfly and eventually my double saddle Butterfly. The Achilles still put him in check though. Then I bought a Paucifasciatus Butterfly and didn't want to risk it. Sold the Convict to a local reefer.. less than two weeks later I see it at the LFS. He told me it beat up everyone in his tank. He was the fattest healthiest convict you'll see. Sucks that he turned out like that.

Mine is well over an inch thick. I'll take pics and post it

I do notice that if constantly feed nori, by constantly I mean twice a day… the aggression is 99% gone. We have to keep in mind that they think life and death.

So, what I do now:

2 nori clips
One on the left of the tank one on the right
Mirror on the left
Refill nori 1x per day so total of twice per day. Feed frozen 1-2x a day. Lately I’ve been feeding twice a day frozen because I got 3 new lyretails and they need some meat.

I’m thinking of adding a second, more aggressive type tang (as my last tang) to keep the convict in check.

he’s definitely the aggressor he loved messing with the hippo tang now he leaves her alone. Now it’s the yellow tang but the yellow tang has grown three times the size since I got him.

I mean, they’re fine I guess I don’t look at the tank all day and they’re always alive and don’t appear stressed.

I have had a kind convict tang for the last 5 years. :)

Funny is , I just ordered two more today from LA myself arriving next week. My current one is a Model citizen although I have heard of some with aggression.
How do your new ones look? What size are your new ones ?
I spoke to fishroom and they said eating pellets and Mysis and are shipped at 1.021 water.

If your new one is a continued problem child, Hit me up- I may take it depending on location. I currently have 19 tangs.
Well to no surprise, ordered Convicts on Friday, spoke with Live Aquaria today and of course, its 10:30p My time and NO email or shipping confirmation regarding my fish. My daughter elected to stay home from work for me to bring fish in while im at work. After 2+ years, I gave these guys a chance and they are off to a BAD start once again, and it will be 5-10 years before I consider anymore business with them.
I DONT KNOW HOW THEY REMAIN IN BUSINESS OR REPORT PROFITS ??????

Did you get them in yet? I ordered 2 randall's gobies from them last friday. They came in Tuesday. Expert packaging and they're both doing great.

Update :

Yellow tang became the big bully. Had to net him last night :( he was being relentless with the convict tang.
