Hi,

Well I am about to start 70 gallon tank with around 20 gallon sump after 5 years . It will be sps dominant .
Had planned for 2 or 3 part or Aquaforest additives ..

However, the constant cost of buying 2 part / 3 part additives especially branded ones like Aquaforest ones and forgetting to refill the dosing containers are chore for me. I have experienced situations where I have forgotten to refill the containers in the past.

Now that I have sold my litermeters , want to attain stability using calcium reactors for my future build. I have never used one as I always deemed them to be so complicated , like a scientific experiment.

But now I plan to start embarking on them .. Please let me know your thoughts, what system should I be looking at for a 100 -120 gallon system, benefits and how to tune ..

Regards,
Abhishek

I switched from 2 part to a CaRX and I do not regret it. I am using a Geo's Reef 618 on my sps reef 180. Setup and dialing in is a breeze if using a controller. Here is a video that I followed that makes setting up a CaRX a breeze and is really a lot simpler than the traditional method

Wait a minute.....you can't remember to refill a dosing container, but instead you want to get a calc reactor that, in your words, "I always deemed them to be so complicated , like a scientific experiment."

Here's my convincing....I've known two extremely experienced reefers who lost their entire LARGE tanks from a calcium reactor going nuts. Oh wait, that's not convincing.

Buy BRS chemicals and do two part......a 70 gallon tank is perfect for two part.......three part, if you include the magnesium. Get dosing pumps and large dosing containers so you don't have to fill them that frequently.

That happens to dosing pumps too, nothing is bulletproof. But adding a master flex pump and a good regulator can help , also it can be backed up by an apex or another ph controller just in case .
