I had a Blue Velvet Damsel. It was a model citizen for about a year. Then one day it went on a rampage and tore down and ripped up every soft coral, polyp. LPS, SPS - well, you get the idea, anything that wasn't solid rock. Just a warning. And when they get bigger they lose that beautiful color. I took it to a local pet store and it stayed in their tank for over a year then someone took it. Also, they get much bigger than other damsels.
Well he's in a FOWLR so we should be ok. He is a bully but tends to stick to his own area. I have a 75 I'm converting to reef once the seahorse tank is up and going. The 55 he's in will stay fish only. ;) he's my little survivor so I'll stick with him.
I have a fish like that. It survived a truck crash on the way home. It was in the windshield in a dry bag. Put it in another bag and it's still with me today. That was five years ago. The Blue Velvet Damsel was the second meanest fish I have ever owned, and I have a predator tank. For a fish to tear stuff up just for fun?
LOL. I was going to say the same thing. They say they get only 6 inches, but they're at least 6 inches around too. If I had to compare it to another fish it would be a full-grown female Maroon Clown that's guarding her eggs. That's the fish that survived the crash. She'll bite you and draw blood, but she won't take over a whole tank and go around tearing stuff up.
