Cooler water corals?

I'm setting up a tank whose temp is going to be closer to 72 degrees, which I know is probably within the acceptable range for a lot of hardy corals, but is anybody aware of any corals that do well in lower temperatures?

Simply stunning colors. My favorite LPS by far. They prefer colder temperatures than what most people can run. I have one and run my tank at 76.5F which is still too high for its liking. Lost most of his rainbow colors in warmer temps.

This should be a must have coral for a tank running at 72

You're going to be right at the cusp of being a temperate temperature tank. Try searching for suppliers of temperate critters. I know that there are some temperate non photosynthetic sun corals that would work.

Right! Thank you so much for this- I feel like I knew that but it was buried deep in my brain somewhere. I have definitely heard of them bleaching from being in peoples tanks and how they had to be adjusted slowly to tropical temps, often with little to no success.

What would you say the temperate range is? I could go lower to 68-70, but I don't have a cooler, which is what will be an issue at those temps. I'm hoping to get by on fans during the summer if I decide to lower the temperature of the tank at all, since I currently have it at 76.

Fish wise... white spotted Pygmy filefish, Kamohara blennies, and blue spotted jawfish.

I kept my temperate tank at around 65 to 69 *f, which is on the upper "summer" temperature side of the the local critters I collected. The ocean surface temperatures would reach into the low to mid 70's and the tide pools would get even warmer, but they would get flushed out daily.

Good to know- I don't have a clean up crew for this tank even though I'm more than likely going to need one. Likely not a huge one since frogfish don't eat too often :)

Are there shallow water temperate reefs? If so, there's a possibility I can find something to put in the tank. Certainly going to take a bit of research it seems... WoRMS here I come

Sure, not a whole lot in the line of corals but lots of anemones, gorgonians, clams, scallops, mussels.... as far as corals go, I did have some orange cup sun corals.

Perhaps I'm going about this wrong... I have tons of results coming up but of course the deciding factor is what I can actually get. If I want a clam I guess I could go with the clams at the supermarket, though those aren't as attractive as tridacnas XD

Thanks! From a cold water place years ago but you can still get cold water nems and fish through the cold water marine owners Facebook. They have a list of venders.
