Copepods and Diamondback Goby

Recently bought a diamond back goby and know they need a lot to eat. I want to have enough food for it. I just ordered phytoplankton and 2 copepod galaxy pods from algae barn. My tank is pretty new. I was wondering if I needed a like safe area like Refugium to keep the copepod population stable in my tank or it would be fine in the display. If so how should I do it as I do not know too much about them. I have a water box 35 gallon AIO tank. Tank is stocked with 1 torch, 1 favia, 2 young clowns, 1 cleaner shrimp, 1 diamondback goby, and 1 royal gramma. Would prefer a cheap way non ugly if need a refugium. Thanks!

IF you feed your tank phytoplankton a few times a week, your pod population should be good. As for Diamond gobies, mine eats EVERYTHING! Yes he sifts thru sand to find pods, but he is a machine at eating everything else as well. I feed Ocean Nutrition Formula 2 flakes in the morning, and frozen mixture in the evening, and my goby eats it all.

I believe what you have is most commonly called a diamond watchman goby. It’s a good idea to have a healthy pod population. I’ve had one for over three and a half years in my 32g. It is the biggest pig in my tank and eats anything I feed. I’m pretty sure if I tossed a chicken nugget in there it would eat it. Just a caution, I’d probably wait until the tank has been running for at least 4 months. You’ll definitely get enjoy watching it’s antics.

Agreed! Mu Diamond is my favorite fish in the tank because he is non stop!
