If a branching sps coral (e.g., birdsnest) has a branch that grows straight toward a rock, and then rums into that rock (in very slow speed), will that branch encrust onto the impeding rock and start in a sense a new colony, or perhaps a new wing of the colony, from that spot? Xenia sort of does this, but that's soft. Obviously any encrusting sps does, but that's different.
