I've seen many photos where people have encrusting corals placed on the bare bottom glass. In time, these obviously encrust on the glass. Is this not a long term problem for those doing so? I mean, I imagine it requires chiseling the coral to remove it. What happens when you upgrade tanks? When its time to move? Or you tank busts a seam? Just after the thought process here and wondering if perhaps I am missing something. Maybe the coral is actually really easy to remove. Not sure. Discussion?

Encrusting corals such as Acros, Montis and Cyphastrea come off very easily from glass.
If they have a very big encrustation then some of it will break. but it's not such a big deal either - you just get some frags to share.

Believe it or not most can be carefully removed completely with no damage, I use a sharpened putty knife, they come off the glass surface rather easily and a majority of the time you get the whole colony without breaking it off a piece at a time.
