Hello,
I'm new in chalices and I bought this frag few weeks ago. I had huge problem with its tissue recession but now I have it under control. The thing which is very intresting to me is how strong it has changed the coloration. Can you help me with identifying this coral? I'm intrested in ID of this coral because I'm curious if this coral will have old color patterns or new.

That is an acanthastrea echinata, not a chalice

Darren
Ok thanks. I wasn't for 100% sure what it is, especially after watching for many days only the rest of its tissue:expressionless-face::grinning-face-with-sweat:

Good luck, it looks to be in trouble, though usually they are a pretty hardy coral. It is a pretty color morph……

Thanks. Forunatelly I glued its edges and tissue necrosis stopped. Few days ago it grew new polyp so I believe it will be good. But still i don't know what happened. I made thread about it before:
Thread 'Coral loses tissue in strange way! Please help!' https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/coral-loses-tissue-in-strange-way-please-help.986929/
Btw as you can see in that thread I was thinking if it's acanthastrea echinata:upside-down-face:

It is Acanthastrea, but not necessarily A. echinata. It could also be A. brevis, hemprichii, or subechinata.
