I just bought this from online store. only state “montipora”.

It's hard to tell in the pictures but THAT looks like a Montipora! Haha. It looks like a branching montipora hirsuta.

Both of these corals like high light and high flow.

they can be a little finicky, yes.

Med light, good flow, rock solid stable parameters and occasionally spot feeding at night will be your keys to success with this coral.

I would consider hydnophora a fairly easy lps to keep. They get nice a fluffy in a well fed tank. Keep it away from any other corals because it can send out filaments that will just demolish almost any coral in its path.

Hydnophora is labeled as an sps by a lot of vendors but everything about it says lps to me. It’s more of a medium polyp stony coral though if your going by size of polyp but sps and lps is just a generic way of describing a type of coral. It’s fluffy skin that expands when fed a lot and large ridges with big polyps is more of an lps trait. Nevermind the guts it will consume other coral with in a matter of hours.

Ah yea defiantly on a different level. I had one in my last system but I never got it to take off. Very cool coral for sure even if it is just the green one.

This is why just about anyone who studies corals doesn't use these terms to describe a species, they're horribly inaccurate.
