Almost looks like star coral

I know some people got them from live rock which was why it was on the back of my mind.

Do you know what it could be? The shape is so interesting

It usually wouldn't be on a frag if it came from LR (they're illegal to sell; the LR thing is like a loophole or something). I would need a better photo to tell honestly.

I unfortunately don’t, I received it essentially as a gift. Nor do I know what it looks like completely expanded. It partially expands. It does have a skeleton.

It's likely a Dipsastraea, but there is a possibly that @bluemon is right; it might be a Montastraea
