Ive got loss of color in the eyes of my Christmas favia. I have a 28 gallon tank (18" deep) with a dual t5 lights running 10k and actinic. After the first month it was put in my tank the red began fading. I started it in middle of tank due to my lighting and it started to lose color. I moved it to the sand and it seems to have faded just a little more but has had good growth, almost 1/4" down the frag all the way around (no new eyes).
Levels:
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate>5ppm (normal)
Calcium 420
Alk 8.1
pH 8.0
Temp 78
Use a twelve hour light schedule with only the actinic running one hour in the morning and two in the night

Was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what's going on? Should I switch out the actinic for a Blue + or 14k, dose Iodine? The coral seems healthy, growing and eating well just a loss of color.

Are you feeding your corals? Sounds like they are lacking nutrition.

My experience with the Christmas Favia is that it doesn't like a lot of light. The best it's ever done was in the shade.

Ill try moving it under an overhang. About how long will it take to regain color once its happy?
It only took about a week for it to start looking good again. Actually, did it on accident by moving a rock. It never did read good until it was shaded.
