Hi everyone. I am new to reefing and started up a biocube 32 a week ago. I am looking for the best way to set up the filtration chambers. Like where should I put the black foam blocks, polishing pads, regular white filter floss, carbon (don't want to have to replace cartridges), chemi-pure elite, purigen, and bio media? Thanks for any advice in advance.

I ran my biocube on empty rear chambers and live rock. Don’t overthink it or add too much. Keep it simple.

Live rock, heater, rerun pump. Ditch the sponges, purigen, carbon etc unless they are needed for a problem. Filter foods is useful.

Thanks for the info. I may be wrong, but doesn't the chamber with the return pump supposed to have a lower water level than the other champers? It has the same water level as the other chambers.

It’s the one that will go down with evaporation, yes. The middle will go down as well. I would suggest raising the level of the second and third chamber to be near the level of the tank to reduce noise and add an auto top off float in the 3rd chamber for evaporation top off. Gran a tunze nano auto top off unit.
