Could use some help with XR15 G6pro

Good evening all,

Our tank is a Red Sea reefer 350, with 3 of the lights listed above. Our tank is pretty new, 2 clowns were added, some GSP has naturally formed out of the live rock and we've added some Pulsing Xenia and a few new other softs that require medium light. What would be a good amount of time and intensit to help the coral grow while minimizing unwanted side effects like algae growth, we do have a bit of hair algae we're dealing with on one rock. Should we consider adjusting color levels within the LED'S (meaning lowering green or some colur to minimize algae growth but promote coral growth)??

Hey there, so the rock we have was cycled, we were able to skip the cycle process. Our tank is now about 12 weeks old.

With those corals you don’t need high par (150-200 par) ABplus is a well known preset and works well for many so I would recommend using that. If possible I would recommend renting a par meter to dial it in. 12 hour schedules work well with ramp up and down but if you are battling algae I would recommend shortening the schedule. Attached what my schedule looks like, I’m also running t5s that come on at 12 and turn off at 8.

8 hours at full tilt is a good place to start. You can do dusk/dawn on either side if you want.

Do yourself a favor and disassociate algae with light. If you can grow coral, you can grow algae, and vice versa. The spectrum or timeframe does not matter. If you have algae issues, you do not have enough things in your tank to eat the algae.

Thats a fair point, or I didn't have the water parameters correct and that could have helped algae grow etc?

I agree with jda, you need snails, hermits, and tangs to eat the algae.

so far we have 10 hermit crabs, 2 ninja nails, 2 turbo snails and an emrald crab. Perhaps we still need to add more CUC? Please dont hesistate to advice that side :)

4 snails for a 73 gal is not going to cut it. I would buy another 20 or 30 snails and keep adding more every week until the algae starts to recede.

holy crap!! I was trying to take it slow with CUC, theres so much snail poop lol! I will start to add more, THANK YOU
