I was interested in IDing this crab. Stone Crab? Gorilla crab?
The first 2 pictures were taken with it out of the water, so the hairy legs are less apparent. Third picture is in the water.

Pretty sure that’s what’s usually called a gorilla crab and not reef safe. The fuzzy legs and black claws are the give away.

Tbh, I’ve had a few, and while if the opportunity arises to get them out, I do, but I have not seen 1st hand any damage to corals or fish by them.

But I don’t like to risk it, if I can get them.

Many will tell you to move it to the stump, but I flush mine.

None of my LFS I’ve called wants them.

Thanks!
I have now captured it (hence the missing claw) and will either put it in the sump or flush. I think it was the cause of damage to my hammer coral, which was right next to the crevice the crab was hiding in......
