Any idea what this is? This was on the skeleton of one of my trachys that wasn't doing too well, just recently noticed it and removed it and now it's doing better.

very hard on top and almost the size of a thumbnail. looks like a limpet or small chiton but never seen anything like it.

it was slightly lifted off the skeleton until i stuck my hand close to it and it hunkered down on the trachy skeleton. It was pretty hard to peel off with tweezers

I noticed it a long time ago but i thought it was part of the skeleton because it was pretty well camouflaged, it never moved as far as I know and it left a "scar" from where I removed it from.
