Quite a lot on your plate. After perusing your threads, I see you are mixing SPS with softies..

Because I am a Laissez faire reefer, I simplify my systems with easily maintained & compatible livestock. After 55 years of Reefing adventure, I focus on emulating nature with Caribbean lagoons heavy on filter feeders (sea apples & flame scallops) including ornamental sponges and soft corals. In mature display tanks, I promote cryptic sponges in sumps to provide organic rich carbon to diverse micro fauna & fana.

A few recent pics. I call my reef a Mangrove Clam Lagoon. It started in April with dry rock, a few corals and clowns from the beginning. It has progressed nicely with the typical ups and downs. The main objective is mangroves(7) with the most diversity. The back tank with the large mangrove will be connected to the main system next month. I’m getting 20lbs of Tampa Bay live rock, NPS corals, and a few more softies which will complete the diversity. The live rock should be loaded with sponges, macro algae, and hitchhikers so I’m comfortable with it being with soft corals vs the more delicate stuff in the main display. Both tanks are lite with powerful daylight leds for the mangroves in addition to typical reef leds. The post was more about the struggles of reef aquariums everyone has. Your input is welcome however. I have had several tanks over many years but imo this set up is the most diverse possible, definitely for me anyway.
