Thank you for the information! I do have a question though. I am getting ready to get my JBJ 45AIO set up this weekend I am a little apprehensive about the cycling process. My initial plan was to use ghost feeding. I will be using live sand but dry rock. After reviewing this guide I thought I would use ammonia instead because that seemed to be the more precise way to go.
So I am looking at the Dr. Tim's fishless cycle and it essentially shows with using ammonia the tank will be ready in 14 days? What happened to 4-6 weeks? I am not going to use bacteria in a bottle unless it is truly helpful- so I don't have that on me at this point. So I am confused, I have my test kits and will be monitoring my tank but I am trying to set up my own expectations. I don't want to rush the cycle but 14 days seems a little short to be cycled just by adding some ammonia.
Am I over thinking this? Should I just use the ammonia and test and the testing will show me when it is time?
Thanks!
