I'm on day 23 of cycle ammonia is at .25 ppm nitrite 1ppm and nitrates are high. At what point do the nitrites drop to 0? My tank eats ammonia very fast I can dose to 2ppm and it's gone overnight. But my nitrites hang around the 1ppm mark. Any suggestions?

At this stage, as long as your reading ammonia your going to have a bit of nitrite. I would stop dosing ammonia, and wait. After you read 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite, do about a 25% WC and then you're ready to add your first livestock

It sounds as though you have your bacteria population established well. I'd start with about 1/3 of your total CUC, and depending on tank size, maybe a couple hardy fish
