So this is a $10.00 frag I picked up about 14 months ago. It was about an inch long and ugly brown.

It’s had good growth and colored up a bit (nothing very exciting) but it’s my barometer coral.

I have noticed the base starting to recede. Not very fast at all and overall the coral looks to be ‘happy’

Is it just because the branches have shaded the base? Or is this something I need to worry about?

Maybe take a frag off it so I have 2 colonies?

Thoughts / Comments?

What kind of lighting do you run? This is pretty standard for LED only systems, not enough spread imo. I would not worry about losing the coral, though. It looks healthy overall.
