I was at a buddies house and I noticed his Scissortail Dartfish stayed at the top and was out all the time. Does the Scissortail stay out more than the Zebra Barred Dartfish?

Both my scissortails and zebras are always out and about. They are not as timid as my firefish or lined dartfish

I guess it has a lot to do with the individual fishes personality. I have a Zebra Dartfish that hides pretty much all the time. My Lined Dartfish stays out a lot. My Purple Firefish stays out all the time.

I think it also has to do with the tank mates as well. I have a wrasse dominant tank and my zebra barred is always out and about.

Order of introduction matters as well. A dartfish in early and allowed to get comfortable can handle being kept with fairly Intimidating fish. But, introduced later in it may never settle in.

I've had the Zebra Dartfish for years he's the one that hides out a lot. My Lined Dartfish that's new actually stays out more.

Fast forward and I've had my Scissortail Ptereleotris evides for a few months and it's always out at the top. I might get another one.
