I started a thread on the chemistry forum as my KH seems to peak during the day, rather than night.

Thread 'KH increases during the day'
https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/kh-increases-during-the-day.1107732/

I use Reef Zlements two part system and a reef factory KH Keeper. After some discussion I heard from Reef Zlements:

We have seen that effect from the way/method your KH controller actions preform. You will be able to avoid that if you manage alkalinity manually or with other controller (other dosing approach).

Does anyone know how RF actions differ from the method DD controllers use to reactively dose?

AFAIK all controllers follow the same method. If they measure a drop in Alkalinity they increase the next dose.

You will need to adjust your dosing to even out the dosing and then allow the KH Keeper to keep it under control.

For example, my dosing is higher during the day to cope with increased demand. If the demand exceeds the dose the KH Keeper increases the dose.

Thanks @gbroadbridge, yes I’ve got that all setup and am adjusting to even things out. I’m just interested in why one controller might lead to the pattern when others may not.
