The gorilla crab is definitely still kicking, unfortunately I fumbled it. I found it hiding in some pom pom I was trimming. It hid under a rock, I tried to bait it out with some food, but it was too smart for that lol. I lifted up the rock and I lost it at some point, I think it must have dropped off the bottom and ran away somewhere else in the tank. Ill be building a trap for it, hopefully I can get it out soon. Still no damage to corals yet.

Pineapple sponges are absolutely popping off right now, im going to take this as a good sign since im planning to keep decorative sponges at some point.
Might even try fragging some sponges off the live rock in my 8 gallon 🤔 Theres a nice orange one in there.

I did that with a Black Liver Sponge.

I should hopefully be getting some cool corals this weekend, my first "acro" kind of, an RRC Goldenrod anacropora, im comfortable keeping one of these since they are lower light than actaul acropora. Hopefully picking up a nice lobophyllia as well.

Hoping to start with real acros soon, im stalking Atlanta reef club for anyone selling an Ai prime 16.
25% off at brs right now on some of the AI lights edge and primes are part of it. Probably not as cheap as used though. Blades not part of it.....😢

Heres some nice shots, been awhile since a full tank shot.
I moved the nps sea fan to the 8 gallon awhile ago, still not fairing much better, no algae on it though.

Big update today, Benson, my starry blenny, has gone to @Hunna’s Stunnas (hopefully you dont mind the tag). I got an ato for my 8 gallon and this anacropora out of the deal. Rehomed the blenny for my plan to get smaller fish in the future, barnacle blennies and similarly sized fish. Also picked up some caulpera prolifera while I was at the lfs earlier today.

We'll see how sps + macroalgae turns out, not planning on ever keeping any super high end acropora. Just green slimer and maybe a Copps' Calicali staghorn. Ive yet to see a tank with sps and macroalgae, I really wonder why that is. Maybe its because most acro keepers have tangs?
Anyways did some reading and it seems theoretically possible, although some concern about compounds released by macroalgae and them stunting hard coral growth. Macroalgae might get the kick if I cant make it work.

I dont know I had a pretty large display fuge on my system with a lot of macros, about 75g. My 125 was sps dominant, I dont know if any would consider what I had to be high end anymore or even then. I had red planet, pearlberry, frogskin, to name a few. I was never into the name game if I liked it I would try it out. Never seemed to be an issue that I could tell.

Yeah, I had been thinking of refugiums as well, its just really weird that I cannot find a SINGLE picture of anyone keeping macroalgae and acros in the same tank, that is kind of worrying me a little.

I’ll have to poke around and see, I’m sure they’re out there. I wonder if part of why they’re uncommon is that SPS are typically placed in high flow and most macro take a long time to anchor themselves (if ever) so they’re easier to keep in low flow or contained sections of the sump or Refugiums.

Speaking of things I've never gotten to on this thread, the mangroves!
Im down to just one, all the others have died along the way, this remaining one is very healthy and is being acclimated to saltwater.
Hopefully I can incorporate it somehow, I really wish I could just snap my fingers and have it grow super big prop roots. Unfortunately I don't think my original hope was realistic. I wanted to have big prop roots that I could mount zoas and sponges on., That would take up a lot of space in this tank, and it would take years, Ill probably just throw it in once its fully acclimated.

I noticed they were selling the 25g Lagoon AIO with the stand again, so I emailed and received a response from Innovative Marine. They don't sell the stand separately anymore. I thought this might be useful information since we were talking about stands.
