Running a new dehumidifier near my tank to control odor and moisture. Can the water be used for ATO water? Or is this just going to wreak havoc?

believe water condenses on aluminum plates inside a dehumidifier so might have heavy metals leaching into it.

It may also have exposed metal internally that leaches copper etc.

I know this is an older thread, but I found it in my search for other experiences using this water for ATO. I’m currently about five gallons replenished into my freshwater cichlid aquarium running a canister filter with carbon and have so far experienced no side effects. I did check the TDS of my reservoir and it read 25 ppm. Will update with further testing on my freshwater fish!

Ya there isn’t much risk to it besides airborne contamination. Which would end up in your tank anyways. The moisture condenses on fins or coils(depending on your machine) and in theory if it’s a quality device it shouldn’t leech anything.

All that said my RO/DI is an easier solution as it’s automated.
