Hello, I have had my Deskmate for a few months now and I feel like the return pump is super week. I took it apart again and cleaned everything just to make sure there wasn’t a blockage and it’s still just a trickle of water. Is this normal or did I get a dud?
Hi, you may have a bad return pump. My pump is quite string even when a dual RFG is attached to it.

ON that note, kindly contact [email protected] to get a replacement pump.

Hello, our test shows about 160PAR on center 2" below water. Sides about 80PAR. Bottom center: 70-80PAR and bottom side, around 40PAR. There's also a few people who tested theirs, and claimed to be more PAR than our findings. @Bulk Reef Supply did a test also.

Matthew broke out the PAR meter for his YouTube video on this tank at the 0:49 min mark here. Perfect for softies and LPS.

Hello, I feel i have talked to you regarding your issue already. But if not, in this case we will gladly replace your pump for at no charge. We have been testing each pump that we have been sending out to help make this issue as rare as possible. Thank you so much for your support!

I have a question about the acrylic shelf used for filtration that is sold separately. On all your vendor’s websites it says it is for the 3.8 gallon model. I wasnt aware there are two models until recently. Will this shelf also work on the 4.8 deskmate model?

They are the same. I was confused too. The display area is 3.8 gallons and the total tank volume is 4.8 gallons. Beware the acrylic shelf slides under the sock area. In other words, you have to remove most everything in the middle chamber and slide the shelf to the left under the sock area. Mine is collecting dust.

The pump has a little slider on the body. Be sure you slide it all the way to the right. Should be more than a trickle.

I am having issues with the flow rate in my tank. Currently with the filter sock in, the water rises slowly enough over time to cause concern. I am leaving on vacation in about a week and worried the tank with flood within the tiny return chamber if I can't fix this. Any suggestions. Also I just set this tank up on Saturday Feb. 18th and the filter sock is new.

Just overnight this is the new level after the first photo I took.

I wonder if you have a bad filter sock that isn't porous and allowing the water to flow through. I set up my tank last Monday (2/13/23), and don't have any issues at all.

To save on some money I also plan to get a little drop in basket and just use filter floss to swap out instead of a big sock.

If your're going away on vacation, and you just set the tank up and are cycling...I would just pull out the filter sock if that fixes the problem...not really catching anything in it at the moment anywyere.

Here's the level in the back of my tank

So I see that your sock makes the water go into it and then to the second chamber. Mine fills up and water just churns at the top. Did you wash your filter sock before?

Also did you turn the pump up to max that came with the tank or did you purchase a different pump?

I also have the collection cup from Kraken Reef that when I put it in with no filter floss it looks the same as what yours looks like with the sock in. I guess the sock is bad!

I would assume it's a bad sock that just isn't allowing for water to pass through it. Once you get fish in there, I'd throw some floss in there to catch any food/free floating debris (I'm going to do the same).

Glad this worked, and it can put you at ease!

Ok so I need help as soon as possible. I now am having issues with using basic filter floss in my overflow using the Kraken cup insert. Tank almost overflowed just now as I heard it pouring over the back baffle. Had to pull out the filter floss and now the level is back to normal. So far I can't use the filter sock that came with it or filter floss... meaning no way to filter out organic material!!! This is crazy.
