I hate their new format. Truly awful.

Glad to see some familiar names here.

The default when you load any thread is to start at the original post, even in the lounge. I really have no interest in posts from 10 years ago. They went from bad to worse IMO.

I check in on RC every time I sit in front of my computer, just like I do here. What I've found is that the only place there's any action is the lounge. I find it sad that there is so little activity over there.

Oh - and Hi John!!! Hope all is well with you. About 3 years from retirement here and can't wait!

And some still are. The wife retired at the beginning off the Covid thing. She wants me to retire sooner rather than later, but there's this pesky mortgage thing, and she's decided that she wants to get rid of her 2014 Altima with 59,000 miles and get a Rogue. With prices the way they are now, that's just not gonna happen!

I've actually been trying to help a bit there lately, JohnL (owner I think?) is a really decent guy. Apparently there is a moderator attitude change but I've already been scoulded for making comparisons to R2R in a thread about what could make RC better and re-attract members. I'm not seeing any supposed change in moderation based on that and I'm sadly dissapointed at the moment. This very thread could not exist there.

ReefCentral always was a cesspool of complete toxicity, ever since it was created, I never participated and I‘m glad it’s dead.

R2R is nothing like RC, and never has been, thankfully. @revhtree seems like a true follower of The Way and it shows in his work here.

It’s not dead… I believe that they are launching a new operating system (sorry, not a computer guy) in a week or so.
There is a lot of information there, that is still useful.

That is correct. The upgrade to VB5 did not go as planned, with lagginess and overall poor UI. They are deploying to Xenforo today into tomorrow. John has gotten a lot more active and hopefully if the beta site was any indication some activity will pick up there.

That said, I was on RC since 2004. Got banned, left for ReefAquariumGuide (for those that remember that, there was a huge fallout with Reefs.org). Then started a new username (this one) in 2006 and yea.

I honestly hope RC makes a comeback to the benefit of all forums. I honestly believe RC and R2R could work well together as they are two very different forums with how they are ran

I'm just getting back into reefing and stopped in at RC and was surprised to see it so quiet.I also had a few run ins with the same mod Johnike is speaking of. When I wandered in here I was happy there is still a forum that had activity. Much has changed over the 12 years I've been out of the hobby.
