difference between sps and lps coral tank set up?

Flow, lighting? I read where someone said it easier if you pick one type or coral to plan for. What tank differences come with each? Thanks!

Really the only difference in my mind is light and flow. The both require both, but SPS require more of both.

Is the term “softies” referring to LPS?

Softies refer to just that, corals with no hard skeleton. GSP, zoas, palythoa, etc are considered softies.

FWIW,
LPS and SPS are just identifiers we give corals in the hobby.
