Hello all. I have been battling dinos for 6 months. I fully understand the battle and how I got here ...low phos low nitrates. ...new tank etc.

First I had ostreopsis ovata. They were basically beat with UV fairly quickly.

Shortly after than the real battle began. AMPHIDINIUM. They were mostly on the sand but also on the tips of sps. Eventually they progressed to really like being ontop of green hair algae. From that we concluded some form of free swimming.

I continue to battle them with siphoning, silicates, dosing nitrates and phos. I wasnt winning so I siphoned out all crushed rock.

I now seem to be winning. I still develop some brown patches which samples show very few AMPHIDINIUM and they are swimming slower.

Here is the problem...I see a new bug...in the millions from these brown patches. They swing like AMPHIDINIUM but they are tiny. Like 1/100 the size. Is it possible these are diatoms that are different that the long ones?

Will do! And thank you!!

I just finished another black out. If they pop up I'll post.

The move very similar to AMPHIDINIUM but way way smaller. I'm hoping they are phyto.

The patches with them look similar to diatom. Brown dust. It has grown mostly on gravel. But have seen these on hair algae.

It seems as the large cell dropped this is in similar areas by the millions.

I still dose nitrates phosphate silicates. Skimmer off levels finally stabilize 7ppm nitrate and .12 phos. 3 weeks now.

Things are improving!
