Official Entry: Subscribed to their newsletter. Always shocked by the estimated year that the worlds coral could almost be extinct. 2050 isn't that far away to have a 90% or more mortality rate for the worlds corals. Hard to think I will be alive to witness such an event. I am happy to see more organizations like The Reef Institute stepping up to help keep the oceans full of corals.

Bonus 3: Reefs are important as they provide homes to millions of creatures in the ocean. It is the single most dense population of creatures on the planet. These creatures not only thrive there, but are also part of the food chain in which feeds the next creature on the food chain which eventually could be the food that feeds humans.

Over the past three years, a new coral disease has become one of the deadliest threats to the Florida Reef Tract, wiping out about 50 percent of our coral. We are at the forefront of reversing the damage and restoring the health of our Florida Reef Tract.

Unbelievable, I am brand new to this hobby, and forum and the amount of knowledge is profound! I would have never dreamed I would geek out so much over this stuff, I learned that the ocean floor is 1% reef! I knew it was disappearing but I knew not the rate, better head and see it for myself. I subscribed and look forward to the newsletter, what a great idea

Bonus #3: Coral reefs support life above and below the sea. We're still learning all the benefits these creatures provide.
