Can some of you please weigh in on this: What reef fish have the reputation of being disease resistant. There must be fish that seem to never get ich or velvet or whatever. Anybody have some recommendations? Thanks.

Usually the fish with thick slime coat.... Clownfish, Damsel, Gobies especially Mandarin, Wrasses, Cardinals, Dragonets. That's what comes to mind right now.

Almost every fish has at least some chance of some parasite infecting it. And, even if that fish is resistant, that doesn't mean it won't bring something into the tank that infects your other fish. Best practice is to quarantine all your fish, or purchase pre-QT'ed fish from a reputable vendor who does this.

Nope. if you check the forum often enough you will see every type of fish with every type of disease. It depends on the tank and the fishkeeping method in my opinion. Stress = disease, no stress = no disease

Of course if you search and search your statement is true, but the point of the question is that tangs, for example, exhibit ich far, far more frequently than groupers. Certain fish that exhibit it LESS FREQUENTLY is my question. Assume, hypothetically, that all fish have similar water perameters and similar stress levels.

I don't hear about gobies and blennies getting diseases too often.

Setup a little 10 gallon tank, a hob filter and a 50 watt heater. Treat them with copper and prazi, and you shouldn’t have issues with disease in your tank.

Even if you buy hardy fish, you can still get existing fish sick from new things introduced.

QT isn’t hard, and doesn’t take very long.

Actually, all fish are ich-resistant, and if your fish are getting ich, you are not keeping them correctly. Ich is an issue that we ourselves give the fish. (sorry, but I am too old to argue, It is what it is) I have spent about 300 hours underwater, and in the 800 million fish I have seen there, (approximately), I have never seen ich on any fish. It is only on fish in tanks.

It does not affect my fish because I keep them immune. If you don't feed correctly and don't have the tank set up correctly to reduce stress, your fish, unfortunately, will develop ich and all sorts of diseases, which I have never heard of. 😎
