Like the title says, has anyone figured out a DIY Bromine supplement? I feel the Triton product is over priced.

wow @csb123, i need to go step by step. i bought the same powder as you.

sodium bromide is 22.343% Na, and 77.657% Br by weight, thanks wiki

we're gonna make our juice the same concentration as ati's bromine supplement. i calculated ati contains 50mg/l... i think @csb123 made the same concentration above (1 liter of water weighs 1kg).

so the goal is to make a one liter of solution at 50 mg/l.

adding 1.2877 mg of the NaBr powder (recall NaBr is only 77.657% Br by weight) to one liter of water will make a concentration of 1mg/l. so we need to add 50x this weight to achieve 50 mg/l.

50 x 1.2877 mg = 64.385 mg = .064385 g

do these calcs check out?

********

if it these calcs are correct, wow that's weak sauce, and our baby scale prolly isn't very accurate that low, so we'll triple our concentration... with the benefit of making make our jug last longer - to 150 mg per liter, by adding 0.1932 g of NaBr powder per liter.

How can I convert this into dosing for my tank?

Triton recommends 265.05 ml daily for 19days of their Bromine product and 217.95ml on day 20

System volume is 1400 gallons. What would be good calculations of dosing for this sodium bromine product mentioned above?
Thanks for you help.
