Big pieces in progress. Fill an old plastic bin with sand and add about 3/4" of cement:

Cover cement with more sand and press flat:

And another layer of sand and press again. Here is the other one I made this afternoon. In a week I will have 5 nice slabs.

Is there a cement or mortar brand that is better than another or do they all work about the same? Are they all pretty much reef safe?

I’d prefer a clean white or cream color vs a darker color. Are you guys using a disk shaped mold or what is the easiest way to make these DIY frag disks? Do you have to mix sand or shells with it for structural integrity or will they hold up without it?

Any pro tips would be appreciated. I like the color and cleanness of Thomas Baker’s plugs below, but I’m more after a 4-5” disk or tile shape I believe. I want to peg every acro. Not sure if I want the base to grow down or out horizontally.

Got the loaf sliced on the tile saw. It made 135 disks. In total we have about 500 disks curing now. Some are white and others are grey.
Cheers! Mark

Was it easier to do the loaf and then slice them up with the tile saw? These came out more white? Did you use the same cement?
