For a 12 gallon I would use 3w leds on 20mm star. I would glue the stars on an 1.5mm aluminium plate and series connect them. I would use a Meanwell LPC 35-700 driver and series connect all leds. With that driver You can have up to 14 leds. I would use 5 450 nm, 3 470 nm and 6 20 000 K white. Note that the leds and soldering is extremely sensitive against salt water. If You want a blue light in the morning and evening before the usual light starts I would use a combination of 450 and 470 nm driven by a Meanwell 35-700 or 20-700. The driver needs at least 4 diodes in series to work properly.
If it is for the fishes to wake up and go to sleep softer I would use a single led 450 nm series connected with a resistor 2w 3,3 ohm glued to the plate for cooling.
With a plate of 6 x 12 inches (15 x 30 cm) You need no fan if it is open to the surrounding air. If it is in a hood You need a fan for the air flow - cooling.
There are some very old threads as for example this: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/biocube-14-led-project.53917/page-2

thanks a lot, I really need some help it helped me a lot I will make it and post it here

just I had a question

I ask some lfs in my city they use UV LEDs I don't know what nanometer did they use but they said it worked for them well and it gave the coral a good coloration
I wanted to know if I can add some UV LEDs to these LEDs you said?

and is it ok that the lights be on every day?

and which LEDs should I turn on the whole night?

and can I turn on all LEDs in the time that I want the actual lights?
thanks a lot
I can't say in words how much I appreciate your help

I tried some UV leds but the most they did was to show a lot of otherwise invisible particles in the water.
450 nm gives a fluorescence in green and 470 nm in red.
A few corals can use 420 nm but i did not see 1 single coral lite up with 405 nm.

I have used many different kinds of leds. I dont like the color of Cree daylight diodes.
Bridgelux (mounted in China) gives better color in my tanks.
For blue leds I just check that they are efficient and have the correct nanometer.
I build led lights and just now I am working on a new series with models for Reef, Freshwater and Greenhouses. I only sell in Sweden. Too small scale for export.

The moonlight in nature is so weak that whats called moonlight in tanks is 1000 times stronger. And it varies. Part of the month the moon is up in the day and those nights it is no moonlight at all.

I would have done:

4-6 Luxeon C Royal Blues
2 Luxeon Rebel ES True Blues
1 Luxeon Rebel ES Cyan
1 Luxeon C Mint
1 SemiLed 410-430nm
1 SemiLed 420-430nm
2 Luxeon Rebel ES Warm White
