+1^^ BRS has the screen and all the parts. and a vid. It really is pretty simple, just like a window screen basically. You can get the screen frame from BRS but it will be much cheaper at your local hardware store. grab some 90s, spline and spline roller and youre good to go. go slow, stretch it taut but not tight, whambam done

I built the frame and flipped it to where the groove was facing up and laid it on my kitchen table. Then I placed the screen over the top and used some hand clamps the stretch the screen across the table before I put the spline in. That kept all of the wrinkles out and made a nice taut screen.

Jimsflies and I made the first mesh screen for reefing tanks in 2006 and posted the DIY build thread on a state reefing forum HERE. They are easy to make with supplies found in the hardware stores, The commercial kits are precut to the aquarium size you have and contain all the parts and tools needed for a slightly higher price.

I got the mesh off eBay for way cheaper than any where else but I also ordered a 100' roll lol. Been making them for local club members. Lowes, ace, Home Depot has everything but the netting. Cost about $7-$10 for it all. Cheap and easy to make and keeps the fishes wet

Is there anywhere to get the mesh other then BRS? I dont want/need 100' or anything of the like, just enough for my 55gal and some spare for when I screw it up.

Other thought is does it have to be clear, could the "no see ums" from like Lowes/Home Depot work?

I ended up going to Home Depot and getting the 4' window frame kit, and some charcoal colored mesh, it cost about $18 for everything. The mesh does cut down on the light a little bit but with my LED's I just cranked em up a little more so I really didn't loose any light. It took about 30 min to build the top, the only problem is is I have one power cord that go's to a Koralia that is holding the lid up a little but it isn't bad.
