Curious what everyone's opinion is on using leveling feet vs shims for a diy stand? I have the framing complete for a 60x18 stand and it's going to need some mechanism for leveling as the lumber isn't perfect nor is the floor where it's going - I was planning to shim it but a suggestion was made in my build thread to consider leveling feet. Thought I'd get some more opinions on the pro's and con's of each method.

If I go feet I'd probably use something like this: https://www.mcmaster.com/62805k35 as their thread sizes matches the T-nuts I already have and they have a 250lb weight capacity which seems pretty solid, put 3 along each short side of the stand and probably another 3 front and back (12 or so total).

Seems like the feet might make the leveling process a bit easier, but not sure if there are issues/concerns with going that route that I'm not thinking about. This is going on a tile-over-slab floor and will be supporting a 112g tank + sump.

Either way can work. I think it depends on how much you need to adjust. More than 1/4” to 1/2” I’d go with the leveling feet.

I prefer shims. I got a bundle of cedar shakes from the roofing section of the local box store and filled the entire length of the gap. That way the load is evenly distributed along the whole stand instead of in the one area. Have you ever seen imprints in tiles from heavy equipment? I wouldn't want that on my floor.

those would be ok if you plan to level with just the stand. if you plan to level with the stand and empty tank go with these!

you can use a wrench to adjust due to the hex and ball/socket design. 6 would prolly get it done! i think they are a great idea and used something similar for my build. gets the stand off the floor to let the water dry! ;)
