Just a heads up to not waste your time with Lam’sreef.

I had post for sale 3 mp40 pumps for sale at $290 a piece. That’s about the going rate for them on here. This guy messaged me and asked what is the absolute best I could do on 3 of them is. $290 times 3 is $870, I liked the idea he was local and I didn’t have to ship or worry about package getting lost or broken, so I said $750.

He goes I will offer you $600. A lowball for sure, but not having to ship them was enticing so I said ok. He said he was out of the state, won’t be home until this weekend, I said no problem. I told the PMs I had gotten they were spoken for. Lam’sreef even offered to send a deposit , I said no , not needed, I trust your word.

Today comes and he wants to get them. He said he wanted to test them. Being I have a mastiff and shepherd dog here, bringing strangers is not a good idea, so I said you can take them, we will meet at an LfS , and if you’re not happy, I will gladly take them back. He said ok. I then said let me show him they work, I took an old 10 gallon tank, found the wrong medium spacers for this glass thickness, (would have needed the biggest ones for glass under 1/4 inch) just to prove the they work, wet sides are good, no power supply issues etc) send him a video of each before I leave to meet at 4 o’clock. He calls and asked about a noise in the video, I said the spacers are too thin for a 10 gallon tank, there’s 3 gallons of water in the tank , so when they rev up and down you hear some of that , which all 8 of my vortech would do with the wrong size spacer. We agree to meet at 4, I get halfway there, I get a text saying he’s going to pass on them because of the noises. I said I can bring them to his house, hand him the box of 3, let him try them on his tank before he buys them so he can see there’s no noise. He goes no, I’m going to pass, they shouldn’t make noise. I said if you take an no 40 with a thin gasket spacer, and put int on a 1/8 inch think glass tank, no only would you hear the vibration, you would hear the dry side hit the ground from all the vibration, he said not true he didn’t want to to them.

So all week he commited to them, never asked about potential noise, offered a deposit, the day comes I leave to take the 40 minute drive and Halfway there he backs out. $200 a pump , offered him to try them and still wasted my time.

My breaking point should have been when he asked for my rock bottom price, and then after I took a lot off, proceeded to lowball me with his offer. Clown
