For those of you who have fish in the genus Neopomacentrus, some photos I see of them they have these blue spots on their bodies while other photos they don’t. Do they only have these spots when they’re in courtship, or do they have them all the time? Is it also an age related thing?

I’m talking about:

N. Cyanomos

N. Azysron

N. Bankieri

N. Nemurus

Etc.

To give an example of what I mean, using N. Azysron:

1. Has the blue spots

2. Doesn’t have the blue spots
