They don’t need it every day if there is plenty of algae growth for them to graze on .

similar question : do you need running shoes to win a running race ?

the answer is no but having them will help

Thanks. I’ve tried the tiny bits of Nori is the tank but he just ignores it. I’m not all that worried because eje is definitely eating LRS and getting some greens from Romaine. Hopefully he will come around to the Nori or flake.
He did arrive thin like most do but in a week he has already gained from weight. He looks like 90’s reefers pic of when his arrived. I think he’s going to be ok though

No. I have had this Hippo for almost 3 years now. He looks like velvet, (The material, not the disease)
And he has never been given greens. Not that it's bad, I just never got any and there is really no seaweed or algae growing in my tank except in small patches in the back and I have never seen him go there. It grows on my algae scrubber.

He eats worms and clams like the rest of my fish.

I have had many tangs and my last Hippo was about 10 years old and also rarely ever got greens, but I know from diving that that is their normal food in the sea. I never let this one know that :)
