Does anyone still sell "fine" calcium reactor media?

I'm adding a second chamber to my reactor and I want to use fine media. It looks like it is discontinued from ARM. Anyone know of a source to buy it, doesn't need to be ARM brand?

Just had this conversation over on RC... Caribsea Florida crushed coral should work and is what I will be buying for my secondary effluent chamber moving forward. It’s a good bit cheaper too! :)

Thanks, that's cheaper than I found at another place. Did you find anyone using it with positive results on RC.

There’s a longtime user of an MTC Pro Cal calcium reactor over there where Caribsea Florida crushed coral is the media of choice that the manufacturer recommends for that particular reactor. That’s all he’s ever used with his CaRx.

Here is the short conversation. I’m “LQT” over there.

Cool, I found a 10lb bag on Amazon for a $16. Not as economical as the 40lb for $22, but considering storage and how much I need it makes sense for now to try that.

FYI the 10lb bag I got was not dried (packed like live-ish sand). Glad I didn't get 40lbs, I need to spread it out and dry it if I don't want a moldy mess. Might have to bake it in the oven or something because its too cold here now to dry it outside.

Yeah, be careful... no need to get the “live” version of Florida crushed coral for CaRx use. The link I posted above to Dr. Foster and Smith is for the 40 pound bag of dry Florida crushed coral substrate.

I did not know ARM fine had been discontinued either. Any aragonite substrate should work though. I use the special grade in my CaRx secondary chamber. It needs to be rinsed well, but works just fine.
