We’ve all been there. Don't tell no lies. The WWC haul that was "practically free," the ahem "necessary" new frag rack because the old one mysteriously broke, or the upgraded light that’s "way more energy-efficient" (totally why it cost so much).

Let’s be real—does reefing have its own Bro Code? You know, the unspoken rules we all follow to keep the peace at home while quietly pushing the limits of our tanks (and budgets). What’s your favorite Bro Code moment? I wanna hear your stories before I give up on reefing. Your secret is safe here… probably :)
Please don't out anyone. Bro code still applies. I'll go first:

I bought a 900 XXL, on a discount and also on a red sea direct sale, also on a heavy discount, because they were having a year end sale+ once in a year sale + (I forget). We saved almost 50% :D

Are you asking about the perception most hobbyists have about how popular hobbyists get equipment for their systems?

Are you asking if companies use hobbyists to inadvertently shill for them by offering product for free or at a very discounted rate? And in turn, most of the (what I like to call) tourists are unsuspecting and see that everyone uses this product. Which means, surely they must pay full price if they want to be successful.

To where the tourist never suspects anything to be out of the ordinary and is happy to pay retail because everybody else did.

The product being equipment, corals, food, additives etc.

Is that what you're asking?

I don't know guys, I am the missus in our house and I am the one with the tank. I have found honesty and transparency to be the best policy when approaching my Mr about new stuff for the tank. He has his own hobby and holds to the same policy of honesty and transparency. We both try to use self control and it builds patience which isn't a bad thing either.

Wow, the discipline in you is on another level! :) In a good way. Meanwhile, I’m over here mastering the art of "it was on sale, I swear!" :)

Riigght! Living the dream, are we?
The dream comes with a price tag but I'm happy to pay it. My Gal never made big money. I've always paid all the bills, made sure her and our kids (2 hers one mine) were provided for and she always has a nice ride. In exchange for that I can buy anything I like with no questions. I did get an eye roll not too long ago when I dropped an MP40 dry side and told her there goes $250 down the drain. That was the extent of her objection. I did forget to mention we've been together for over 30 years but never married ;)

Coming from a female perspective, this doesn't stop at tank purchases. I can't tell you how many times my husband tried to sell something auto related and the other had to go ask the wife, even for required parts that keep the truck/car running. Wheels and tires? Oh gotta ask the wife, lift kit? gotta ask the wife, basic oil change? Gotta ask the wife.
