I am trying to find out if you can use a Hydros Waveengine to control the Red Sea Reefwave and if it does, which cable would you use. TIA

Here's a list of all compatible pumps:

Don’t buy the ReefWave if you want a WaveEngine!!! Wasting so much money- you should get the “pump only” icecap 2k or 4K.

The pumps are the same thing licensed from Maxspect

I'm searching for the same thing.

I'm building my reef tank and picked up two Red Sea Wavemaker 45 for very cheaply. Since I'm using Hydros as a controller for my tank, I was hoping to add these to Hydros Wave Engine.

I wonder if purchasing Red Sea Wavemaker extension cords and adding GX12 3-pin connectors would work?

The wavemaker plug has a 3-pin connector and is 24V, similar to an IceCap Gyre.

Does anyone know the Wave Engine GX12 3-pin pinout?

Even if it is a BLDC motor that is 24v. The Wave Engine would have to have the settings programmed into it to drive it correctly. So if it is not an exact clone of one of the pumps already setup in the Wave Engine chances are it will not work correctly.

I don't think it matters how the wave engine programed as it's pulse-width modulation (PWM); as long as it's wired correctly, it should work with any pump. i don't own wave engine otherwise I would test it out

it is not PWM. It is a three phase signal that is sent to the motor coils and have to have the correct amount of current and duration along with frequency of the pulses and the phasing of them.

That sounds like it should work then, as long as you get the pinout in the correct order then.

You might get lucky but you have to tell the Wave Engine which pump you have added to the direct drive port in the settings so you would still need to know which pump the Wave Engine is programed to drive that is the same as the one you are adding. Here is a couple of screenshots. The second is one with a popup of a list of pumps you can choose.

I just pulled the plug on Hyrdors Wave Engine LE to test it out on Redsea ReefWave 45.

I use a Gyre 330/350 adapter as it fits on the Red Sea ReefWave.

As for settings, I set it up as a Gyre 350 and it works perfectly.

Confirmed! This worked for me too!

Also using the Kraken to power the WaveEngine

THANK YOU for posting this; saved me a lot of time and money researching and buying stuff that I don't need.
